BUHARI CAMP JITTERY AS WIKE SIGNALS AUDIT OF RIVERS STATE ACCOUNT. PLOTS WITH AMAECHI TO DESTABILIZE THE STATE.
RTN has been informed that the Buhari camp is rattled by the defeat of the APC in Rivers state, and the consequences that may emanate from the situation as the incoming governor, Nyesom Wike vows to audit the state account. The PDP in Rivers state has accused Gov. Chibuike Amaechi of sponsoring the Buhari campaign using funds obtained from the sale of the state gas turbines to a firm jointly owned by the governor and Mr. Tonye Cole, NG Power, a subsidiary of Sahara Energy.
Rising Tide, has gathered that the Buhari think-tank is worried that the anti-corruption narrative of the Buhari presidency may be tainted if an audit by the Wike administration indicts the DG of the campaign. The team have listed a few options to contain the imminent disaster. First is to ensure the governor-elect is not sworn in using judicial means, second is to ensure the Wike administration is destabilized from the start and thirdly to extend an olive branch to the Rivers state governor-elect and compel the APC candidate in the state to withdraw his case at the tribunal.
The Buhari team is cautious about the situation in Rivers state. They are worried that the popularity of the governor-elect and his rising influence in the region in the wake of President Jonathan's loss may work against the interest of the Buhari presidency in the Region, if not managed with caution.
