UWAJUMOGU INSPECTS RENOVATED IMO ASSEMBLY COMPLEX

…Expresses satisfaction on the level of work
All is now set for the formal occupation of the permanent site of the ultra-modern Imo state House of Assembly complex, Owerri.
This was sequel to the on-the-spot assessment around the renovated site yesterday, by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu and some members of the House.
The Speaker, who was conducted round the magnificent edifice by the Clerk of the House, Barr. Chris Duru, also inspected the Assembly main Chambers, Speaker’s office, and offices for the Hon. Members, administrative blocks, as well as conference halls which were all stocked with the state-of-the-arts facilities.
Addressing reporters, shortly after the inspection, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, who was visibly elated, expressed satisfaction on the quality of job performed so far by the contractors handling the project in line with the approved specifications.
While describing the edifice as a befitting parting gift by the present Assembly to the incoming ones, the Speaker observed that the ultramodern complex would in no small measure give the members maximum comfort needed to tackle the emerging exigencies and arduous task of lawmaking in a modern democracy.
He commended his colleagues for their cooperation, sacrifices and unalloyed commitment towards enthroning strong democratic structures, as well as good governance in the state, stressing that their names would continue to be in the annals whenever the story of the second arm of the government is shared in the state.
The Speaker, who was also appreciative of the support and effort of the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, towards the completion of the Assembly complex, said that his support made the realization of the project possible.
It would be recalled that this is the first time the state Assembly complex has been renovated, after it was abandoned by successive administrations in the state, since its construction by the first Civilian Governor of the state, the late Dee Sam Mbakwe.
