GOVERNOR OKOROCHA APPRECIATES GOD FOR FRUITFUL FIRST TENURE AND PRAYS FOR DIVINE GUIDANCE IN THE 2ND TENURE.
It was thanksgiving galore at the Victory Chapel yesterday, 24th May 2015 when a special service was held to mark the end of 1st tenure of Governor Rochas Okorocha in office and commencement of his 2nd tenure from 29th May 2015.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Okorocha expressed gratitude to God for helping him and the Rescue Mission to record tremendous achievements in the past 4 years as well as granting him victory at the polls to return and consolidate his laudable projects to “make Imo better and better and better”.
Owelle Okorocha sounded it clear that his love for God was not for material acquisition but “I love God for whom He is; He is awesome and when he opens a door no one can close it.”
He recalled that his administration began with the erection of a befitting worship Centre for God at the government House, the building of 3 pillars at the round about depicting his vision to uphold the Word of God, free education, and agriculture which he noted have all been accomplished. “My faith in God is unshakable, so this government can never go down,” Owelle maintained.
The Imo Chief Executive attributed his joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the work of God, pointing out that his action has given the Igbos a sense of belonging at the federal level while he commended Imo people and all who stood by him during the election periods. “Let no one take credit for this victory, not even me, but God alone!”
Governor Okorocha warned that “when political appointment becomes a thing of compensation, we loose track and therefore charged everyone seeking political positions to imbibe the spirit of faithfulness and humility to be successful. ‘Everyone is full of expectations from my government; so I shall provide for all as long as my God liveth. Imo must be greater and this government shall be recorded as the best in the history of the State,” Owelle stated. He decreed that “there shall be no poverty in the land, kidnapping will not come back, there will be job for the youths and we shall sacrifice to ensure these.”
Earlier in his sermon tagged: GOD’S PROMOTION, the State Deputy Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Chuka Ekemam noted that promotion comes only from God and no power nor circumstance can stop the uplifting of anyone God chooses.
Bishop Ekemam advised people in good positions to use their wealth and work for God as well as extend help to the less privileged in the society.
Adding his voice, the Government House Chaplain, Rev. Bunmi Babs said it takes only a man who fears God like Governor Okorocha to make tremendous achievements such as seen in the State and called on all to pray ceaselessly for government at all levels for divine guidance and more dividends of democracy.
The service also featured thanksgiving by families and groups as well as dedication of twin babies, of Hon. & Mrs. Innocent Ndukuba Eke.
In an interview, the Hon. Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Engr Chidi Ibe said that every family in the State has benefitted directly or indirectly from the transformation and unprecedented infrastructural development of the Rescue Mission, as he added “we shall see more as the Governor promised.”
Also, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Edward Ihejirika noted that Governor Okorocha has more of people-oriented policies including the Health at Your Door Step Programme to the people. “We pray that he will accomplish more in the 2nd tenure.”
Speaking on behalf of Ogboko General Assembly, Chief Louis Adibionu said they came to show their solidarity to their son, Owelle Okorocha whose laudable achievements brought about his re-election in the State and prayed God to use him and do more.
