Our correspondent reports that the youths, in their hundreds, took to the streets protesting an alleged blasphemous comment by a sect member of Tijjaniyya, Malam Abdul Nyass.
The youths marched from various parts of the state holding placards condemning the statement made by the sect member against prophet Muhammad.
The youths and some old men were on the streets along with Muslim women condemning the culprit and calling for his punishment according to islamic rites.
The sects leader who is a known figure among the followers of Tijjaniyya, reportedly made a statement against prophet Muhammad last week during his usual preaching at Goron Dutse general area of Kano metropolis.
The development has triggered panic in the city of 9.5million dwellers as police seems helpless so far.
Kano State Police spokesman, ASP Musa Magaji Majia could not be reached to comment on the situation as he did not pick his calls.
