Our delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the State Governor,
Senator Ibikunle Amosun In Abeokuta, to commiserate on the loss of Mama
HID.
In my remarks, I remembered Mama HID as a unique woman who held the forte and provided leadership in the absence of her husband for close to three decades – a feat never attained by any wife of a political leader in the country.
I also remembered how the Ikenne home of Mama, during the last elections was a stopping point for all APC leaders, as her blessings and support in national elections was always critical. I also paid homage to Baba Awolowo, who has become a legend in the story of our nation, because his fight for the progress of the South West, and the country as a whole helped forge a stronger and more unified nation.
Rest in Peace Mama. Thank you for your service to Nigeria.
