AREGBESOLA'S OSUN IN COMATOSE

Rauf-Aregbesola

The crisis rocking  Osun State worsened on Wednesday with academic staff unions of Osun state-owned polytechnics and colleges of education declaring an indefinite industrial action over the nonpayment of their entitlements.

Pensioners in the state led by Governor Rauf Aregbesola had already embarked on another round of protests over nonpayment of their eight month pensions.

This comes two weeks after the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress declared same over nonpayment of their six-month salaries.
Part of their grievances include deduction but non remittance of their contributory pension scheme, non-payment of their seven-month salaries and alleged illegal withholding of deductions from salaries and resultant penal interests by banks.
The aggrieved pensioners took to the street causing traffic gridlock in Osogbo, the state capital.
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) had last week advised the governor to sell the helicopter to pay salaries.
