50 Senators accompany Saraki to Code of Conduct Tribunal for corruption trial [see names of the senators involved]
About 50 senators and some members of the House of Representatives, on
Tuesday accompanied the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki to the Code
of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja to face trial over a 13-count charge of
corruption levelled against him by the Code of Conduct Bureau. Saraki's
convoy arrived the tribunal premises at 9:32 a.m.
Some of the senators in the convoy of Saraki are; the deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Theodore Orji, Sam Egwu, Shaba Lafiaji, Aliyu Wamakko, Rafiu Ibrahim, Tayo Alasoadura, Hamma Misau, Samuel Anyanwu, Sabi Aliyu Abdullahi, among others. The Senate President and his supporters, it was learnt, first assembled at the National Assembly early on Tuesday morning from where they took off in a convoy of buses for the Tribunal. One of the senators, who preferred anonymity said, he and his colleagues decided to provide cover for the senate president to prevent him from being arrested and humiliated by the police.
